We are now preparing for our last race of the 2015/2016 season at Mercyhurst Prep in Presque Isle. Right now, the weather forecast is a calling for a 30% chance of rain but...rowing is a water sport so we may get wet. Remember your rain jackets and umbrellas. .At least the temperatures promise to be a little bit warmer than last weekend. That said, we are entered in 3 events this weekend - JVBoys4, JVGirls4 and Boys2+.
We plan to leave from the school on Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. Mr. Ward will be driving the school van as Coach Jenn will be traveling with the boats on Friday evening. Coach Sands will not be at this race as he is scheduled to be at Stotesbury. That said, he will be involved and know exactly what is happening with our kids and the results of each race. Coach Jenn is in charge. Racing is scheduled from 9 am - 2 pm. Our first race will be the boys double and it's the 4th race of the day so we should have plenty of time to get there and get settled before the boys launch.
We will have one cooler of beverages and one cooler with some food items. Space is extremely limited at this venue. Last year, we had a small tent and the kids actually sat on the trailer. There is no parking at the venue but a shuttle does run from a parking lot to the race venue all day. The kids will stop for lunch on the way home from Presque Isle so no one should go hungry unless by choice.
While there is no practice this afternoon, the kids will practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Then, they will de-rig and load the boats on Thursday afternoon.
I am excited that the kids have this final opportunity to race before the season ends. We have a great group of kids and I'm looking forward to this race.
Thanks again to all of the parents who have made it possible for these kids to enjoy their experience on the crew team. Our kids have made some good friends and its been a pleasure to watch them develop this year.
Hope to see you on Saturday. If not, there will be plenty of pictures posted for everyone to enjoy.
Good luck to our Trojan rowers! Let's show CWNC how the crew team rolls and bring home some medals.
