The purpose of this meeting will be to talk about the race schedule, how the races work, travel procedures and generally what to expect from this season. This should be a really good meeting for parents of new rowers as it will be an opportunity to find out what actually happens at a race, what your children should expect and give you a chance to ask all of those questions of the coaches or other parents that you may not have had a chance to ask.
For those parents of new rowers, most of the races can be seen on Regatta Central which is a site that tracks regattas, participating clubs, and rower stats. It's an interesting site that you might find worthwhile as your child becomes more involved in the sport of rowing. Plus, there are event schedules and heat sheets so that you can follow along with the races and have an idea of when (what time, etc.) your child will row.
Sometimes, having a schedule will help you better prepare so that you are sure not to miss your child's event and it can be more practical if you have extended family coming to an event so that they don't end up sitting all day and can arrive closer to race time. The site is www.regattacentral.com.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday morning.
