THE CATCH: A quick aggressive movement w/outside hand heading up towards individual in front.

1. A punching motion.

2. Visualize the shape of the bow of the boat.

3. Shoulder's should be parellel to oarhandle @ catch.

4. Inside arm slightly bent to help length/body turn & eliminate checking.

5. Shoulder's squared w/slight upward look to outside shoulder,to lever the oar.

6. 1/3 turn of torso,

7. Achieve "RELAXED C" look through upper & mid back.

8. Chin-up,head & eyes looking slightly out @ your work.

9. Shin's perpendicular to hull.

10. No downward movement of hands @ catch.

11. Slight acceleration of the outside hand 2-3" b-4 blade touches H2O.

THE BLADE @ THE CATCH:

1. The blade should be completely covered throughout the drive.

2. Bottom part of blade "WANTING THE WATER".

3. As soon as the blade touches the water "CHANGE DIRECTION"!

4. Look for a slight backsplash @ catch.
